About Barrington River Lodge
From the minute we stepped out of our car we fell in love with Barrington River Lodge. The sound of the running river, the frogs croaking in the dam and the beauty of the surrounding nature. We felt at home. It may have been a rainy day but it didn’t matter. We are honoured now to be the new custodians and will carry forward the dreams of John and Marianne staying true to the founding intention of this special place. A place for people to unwind and reconnect with nature.

From Newcastle travel time is just over 2 hours and from Sydney 5.5 hours. The Lodge is just 10 minutes from the picturesque township of Gloucester.
It was honestly the best time for my 30th birthday. Barrington River Lodge is the perfect place for a celebration, a family or friends’ getaway, or even just a relaxing weekend away.
You were both incredible hosts - so responsive, helpful, and genuinely going above and beyond whenever we needed anything. It made such a difference and really added to how special the stay felt.
The location is absolutely beautiful. Being so close to the river was a massive highlight, especially on a warm summer’s day in Gloucester. Being close to town while still having no phone service was also something we really loved - it allowed everyone to truly switch off, relax, and enjoy the time together without distractions. The peaceful setting made the whole experience feel very special and relaxing.

Our stay in the Lodge was excellent. We had a great time and the kids thoroughly enjoyed playing on the swing and exploring the river. We loved the outdoor kitchen and this was the meeting place for all meals.
We hope to get back some time, when we have more time to enjoy the peace and quiet.

We absolutely love coming to the Lodge. It is perfect for our group of friends and all the kids that come with them. The river is great to explore when low and awesome to swim in when full. The kitchen is stocked so we only have to bring food and the amount of bedrooms is helpful as our families grow. We love our annual stay here.

We loved our stay at Barrington River Lodge! The retreat cabin was perfect for our weekend stay as it was equipped with everything that you could need. We enjoyed using the Weber bbq and sitting on the deck whilst having breakfast.
The property is beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the property. We would have loved to swim in the river if the weather was slightly warmer.
Karen was very welcoming and responsive to our requests. She even treated us to some lovely chocolates.

Yes we are bird watches and you won’t believe it but my husband counted around 20 different birds from just the deck of our Cabin.
